For millions of years, trees have been co-creators of life on Earth – should we start listening to them?
We share a mutual dependence: trees provide shade, clean air, food, and materials, while human activity shapes their survival and distribution.
Through the Urban ElemenTREE project, we’re joining a growing local and international network exploring how to plant billions of trees – the right way. In collaboration with Aarhus School of Architecture and other valued partners, this initiative rethinks urban planting by bringing together the latest, often fragmented, research on urban trees. Factors such as air pollution, wind risk, lighting, heat stress, and soil contamination are translated into actionable guidance for planners, decision-makers, and other stakeholders.
At the newly held Climate People’s Meeting in Denmark, we showcased the project – the high level of interest proved its importance.
