The green and digital transitions are often discussed in terms of solutions. Less frequently in terms of learning.
Europe’s ambition for circular, climate-neutral cities depends not only on technologies and policies, but on how we educate the people who will design, implement, and govern them. If knowledge remains siloed, the transition will be too. This marks the starting point for 3D-CIRCULAR, a new EU-funded initiative which we are proud to take part in. The project explores how education can better reflect the complexity of today’s challenges — bringing circular thinking, digital innovation, and urban realities into closer conversation. For EGC, this work aligns closely with our mission: connecting research, cities, and society, and ensuring that the green transition is shaped by people who understand systems, trade-offs, and shared responsibility. Education is not a side activity in this process. It is infrastructure.
Over the coming years, 3D-CIRCULAR will contribute to building the conditions for a new generation of professionals capable of thinking beyond sectors and scales — and of turning ambition into practice.
