OBJECTIVE:
The objective of this roundtable is to discuss how national and EU regulatory frameworks should be adapted to upscale Demand Response (DR) programmes. The long-term goal to which this policy session contributes is to facilitate the implementation of policies that promote the market uptake of Demand Response programmes through the adaptation of national and EU regulatory frameworks.

TOPICS:
The session targets policymakers, industry leaders and researchers to identify regulatory gaps and barriers, and to propose solutions while exchanging ideas and opportunities. The 5 questions which will be discussed are based on the following challenges in DR:

  1. Interoperability issues across national infrastructure systems
  2. The absence of a clear and consistent regulatory framework
  3. Entry barriers imposed by DSOs and TSOs
  4. The lack of effective incentives to engage key stakeholders in demand response
    programmes
  5. Complexities in data management and privacy protection
