Women hold great potential as agents of change, bringing us closer to meeting the EU’s renewable energy targets for 2030. Renewable energy employs about 32% women, compared to 22% in the overall energy sector. However, women remain underrepresented in STEM jobs and leadership positions.
We’re now sharing the policy recommendations from the W4RES project, designed to promote gender equity and inclusivity within the RHC sector whilst boosting RHC solutions. These policy recommendations address critical issues faced by women in the sector, emphasizing the importance of awareness, inclusivity, and financial support. Since September 2021, W4RES partners have been supporting women in the RHC sector in eight European countries and more than fifty women-led projects received innovation, technical or business support.
